First Aid Green Cross

Systemic classification

Official nomenclature: First Aid Station / Safety Sign (Green Cross)

Legal anchor: ISO 7010 (Safety signs) — Sign E003

Core function: Universal civilian indication of first aid equipment, emergency medical stations and safety kits in non‑combat settings.

Technical conception and ISO standard

The First Aid Green Cross features a white cross on a solid green background; ISO standards define color codes (safety green) and geometric proportions for consistent recognition. It was chosen to provide a non‑military, civilian alternative to wartime protective emblems.

Operational distinction

Unlike the Red Cross, the Green Cross is a civilian safety sign and carries no tactical immunity under the Geneva Conventions. Its use is governed by ISO and national safety regulations; misuse is handled under consumer protection and signage rules rather than IHL.
